One Year
Well tomorrow (4/28/04) will be one year since my tumor was first found by my family physician. When my wife (Carrie) and I look back at all we have been through this year it all seems like a dream. Like it never really happened .. it’s weird.
I feel great although I am severely out of shape. I am certainly back to my old self again because I do not feel inclined to do anything about my out of shapeness!
Carrie tells me I need to start exercising twice a week and eat some fruit. Bah! :p
She’s not the boss of me! :p
She’s actually right … well she is ALWAYS right, but I have to put up some kind of fight, ya know?
This past weekend I actually mowed the lawn. Well I only was able to get half of it done before I had to stop. I know that sounds like a trivial thing, but a year ago I was not able to do something as simple as that.
I am also doing some electrical work in our upstairs bathroom. I think Carrie is worried that I will electrocute myself.
I really enjoy doing the electrical work around the house though I just have to make sure I get it all done before the weekend.
I am also going camping this weekend in Pennsylvania on the Sinnemahoning Creek. I am pretty excited because I missed last year’s trip. We have a group of people we go with and take two trips a year - Spring and Fall. I am not a very outdoors kind of guy, but there is just something very relaxing about the trips.
This month also marks the year anniversary of my brother-in-law’s (Larry) death. He passed away just before we found my tumor. We never really had time to mourn Larry’s loss. Sometimes it’s hard to believe that he is gone and I find myself talking about him as if he is still here. Larry was a fun and charismatic person. He always had a smile on his face and you could not help, but like him. I wish I would have spent more time with him. He left behind two gorgeous daughters that I am very thankful to have in my life.
So this past year was rough and eventful, but life almost seems normal again ….
