9 months, Gilda’s Club, & Ride for the Roses

By Shannon | August 26, 2004

So yesterday was 9 months of remission for me. I did not realize it until I was sitting in the local Leukemia & Lymphoma Group meeting at Gilda’s Club Rochester and had to introduce myself.

Maybe a support group like this is not for everyone, but I encourage EVERYONE to attend at least one meeting if they have them in your area. It sounds weird, but being there with other people that have gone through or are going through what I have had a sort of calming effect on me.

I have also decided that I am going to try to ride in the Lance Armstrong Foundation’s Ride For The Roses event in 2005. I can’t make it this year, but it will give me a year to train so that I can do the 100 mile ride.

Not much else I guess to say … I have been going to counseling and that has been helping me deal with the anger I was holding on to. Things seem to be evening out and life is somewhat normal for now. :)
