ABVD #1 done

By Shannon | October 20, 2004

So this did not seem like such a big deal. Of course I am doped up on Ativan as well. I was told the nausea side-effect was worse for ABVD then it was CHOP/R. SO my nurse was like make sure you take the kytril and ativan this time. Don’t try to tough it out like you did last time.

So it turns out I will only get two ABVD treatments.

My next one is 11/02/04. A week after that I will get scanned to see if the disease responded. If it does then I have to come in one day and receive CYTOXAN. It is at this point I start giving myself Neupogen® shots for one week.

Once my stem cells are harvested I will be admitted to the hospital where I will receive BEAM Chemotherapy constantly for the week. Then my stem cells are re-administered.

I am sure I have typed this a million times already, but I seem to learn something new each time. …

Like .. I should be home for Thanksgiving, but will most definitely spend Christmas in the hospital. :( That is going to be very, very hard on me. I am usually up at like 4am ready to give Carrie her presents and open mine and just hang out around the Christmas Tree for the morning.

Ah well … at least they’re not giving me ABVD #2 on my birthday! I got my last CHOP/R treatment on my 35th Birthday last year?!? :)

Well .. I am feeling very tired. Not sure if I will go into work tomorrow or Friday. Just need to see how nauseated I will be.

I also wanted to thank Carrie & Chris for stopping by last night after my treatment. They dropped off some yummy baked ziti and cake! Thank you so much girls. Carrie & I really appreciated it.

Take Care,
Shan
