ICE Treatment #2

By Shannon | December 7, 2004

Well this one seemed like it hit me MUCH harder than the first. I don’t remember much of the weekend at all. Carrie (my wife) filled me in the other day of all my visitors. I did not really remember that I had any. So I just wanted to thank my parents, Chris & Edna, and Skip & Lexi for coming out to visit. It really means alot to me. Carrie said I was pretty happy when you guys were there.

I was sent home on Cipro and Diflucan (antibiotics) when I was discharged on Monday (11/29). I took those for about four days and then stopped. They were making me more sick than the chemo did. Well .. at least it felt that way.
I am sure my ONC will not be pleased with this decision, but I can only feel like crap for so long. I wanted some part of my life back. Needless to say it has been 5 days since I stopped taking those pills and I have yet to be sick (or catch anything for that matter).

We also started my Neupogen shots on 11/30. We were sent home with 20 syringes of the stuff. That cost $6,750!!! We could not believe it. I am glad we have good health insurance. Those shots are going well. I did not have any pain from them until Monday night (12/6). My counts were 100,000 on Friday and dropped to 1,500 by Monday. Monday was rough. It was like Carrie got up in the middle of the night and beat me with a bat. :)

I should be getting me Stem Cell Harvest soon.
