Decemeber 31st – Infusion Day!

Well today was infusion day. I slept well until about 3am this morning and then just started to get the jitters. You know .. that whole fear of the unknown stuff. So I surfed a little on the internet and was able to get back to sleep.

I had to be hooked up to my IV pole for 6 hours straight to make sure I got enough fluids in me for the transplant. They did unhook me for a while so I could do my morning stair climb. I am now walking down 8 floors of stairs, hanging out in the lobby for a little bit and then walking back up 8 floors of stairs. I think this is one of the reason I am doing so well right now. I just feel good.

The infusion started around 12:30pm today. I still get a little queasy thinking about it. I have this awlful taste in my mouth still. Carrie took some photos of the process, but I just don’t think I am ready to see them yet. Maybe before the night is done I will get them posted.

The doctors saw me just before the infusion and said after today I have TWO BIRTHDAYS. My first birthday (11/07) and now New Year’s Eve (12/31). They said I am pretty much born again with the transplant. A fresh start.

Carrie was so awesome today. She got here this morning right when she said she would so I would not have to be alone for the procedure. When she is here I know nothing bad can happen to me. I can’t explain the connection we have, but it is unbreakable. I love her so very much. smile

My brother Sergio surprised me and came up just before my infusion started. I was not sure how I would feel about other people being here during the procedure. It was a nice surprise and I think it helped Carrie as well. She had someone to talk to while I slept through it all. So I just wanted to say thanks Serg. You have no idea how much it meant to have you here.

So I am going to try to eat something more today. I had turkey soup just before my infusion and now I am just waiting for some Arby’s. smile Hopefully that will go down and not bother me too much. smile

I apologize for just rambling on and on .. I am just happy the infusion is over and that I did not have any complications .. although quite a few were explained to me as a precaution! smile

Now it is just hurry up and wait two weeks so I can go HOME! Yipee! smile

And here are the photos .. nothing special. I slept through most of it.

My Stem Cells Arrive!

Two hours later I am up walking the halls and eating Arby’s!

My parents came up to visit just after I ate as well. Mike & Chris MacDuff also surprised me with a visit! It was nice to see them again. I did not get a chance to break out the Goldschlager last night Mike. ;)
