Kueka Lake, Ride for the Roses, Scans …
So our Keuka Lake ride is coming up this Sunday (8/14). Ethan and I will be joined (so far) by someone I met on the CCC mailing list (Cyclists Combating Cancer), Jim Youngs. I am pretty excited to meet a fellow CCC’er.
I have miscalculated the mileage around Keuka Lake though. It turns out it will be 60 miles or more. I did not do the mileage into the “Y” of the lake. So it will probably be a bit of a challenge for me (much like Canandaigua Lake). I have every confidence that I will not need to call Carrie to come get me.
The LAF has posted the 100 route for the Ride for the Roses! It can be found here - 100 Mile Route.
I see from the map that I have to make the 30 mile mark within two hours of the event start in order to be allowed onto the 100 mile route otherwise you get routed to the 70 mile course. It’s a good thing I am riding all these lakes and hills. I think I will be able to make that 30 mile mark well under two hours.
On Tuesday (8/9) I was re-scanned. On a good note … the contrast I have to drink was much better tasting than the last time. In case you are wondering I opt for the fruit punch flavor.
On a bad note … the contrast they inject in me bothers me more and more each time. They say you will feel a warm fuzzy feeling and make you have the sensation of going to the bathroom. Well … let me tell you … I get the Hot, Prickly feeling and have the sensation that someone has stuck a torch in my crotch!
Luckily it does not last long, but man … what a wake up call.
Having the scans always seems to depress me a little. I don’t know if it’s all the contrast I took in or the fact that it just gets me over thinking about things. I won’t get the results back until 8/30. So it is back wait, wait, wait …
I shouldn’t worry that the cancer is back. I just don’t see how it could be back. How could I be biking all this mileage and have Bubba back?
Currently I have raised $6,065.00 for the LAF.
Only 68 days until we leave for Austin, Texas! Woohoo! ![]()
